Lesley Vogel told ABC News she wants her daughter remembered as "the talented, beautiful, outgoing, intelligent woman she really was." She acknowledged the difficulty of mourning someone in the public eye and spoke of her belief that Panettiere had been struggling privately. The actress had been open about her mental health challenges, addiction recovery, and experiences with domestic abuse in her memoir This Is Me: A Reckoning, published earlier this year.
